Product Description

Audio MP3 Vladimir Cosma's Marius et Fanny

An international cast brought together Roberto Alagna, an impetuous Marius in fine vocal fettle, Angela Gheorghiu, a juvenile and moving Fanny, Jean-Philippe Lafont, an imperious and debonnaire Cesar, and Marc Barrard, poignant and remarkable in every way as Panisse. All the secondary roles were played with authority, notably by Isabelle Vernet (Honorine), Eric Huchet (Escartefigue) , Bruno Comparetti (Monsieur Brun) and Antoine Garcin (Piquoiseau) . Representing the people of Marseille's Vieux Port, the choir fulfilled its mission in the quality of its commentary on the action. The young Canadian conductor, Jacques Lacombe, gets credit as an architect of the evening's success, providing a passionate reading of the score that brought out the beauty of the melodies and the splendor of the orchestration. The composer and the artists earned the standing ovation at the end of the performance.
